Leslie Sansone’s In-Home Walking DVD’s

I don’t usually look to exercise video’s when I plan my workout, you know, ‘cause I’m a guy (You can roll your eyes here). However, my wife has really been into these walking videos by Leslie Sansone.

I see her marching, and bouncing all around our living room a few times a week, never really giving it a thought. Recentlyat work though, I overheard a woman walking by me who became very animated when she saw a display of Leslie Sansone’s videos, and began in a giddy voice, to bombard her boyfriend about how great these DVD’s are, and was barely able to stay still while doing so.

She then proceeded to buy up every one she didn’t already have. Her excitement was very convincing. Of course this got my attention, which led me to do the video with my wife the next day.

I have to admit that I’m impressed. It seems simple enough, but I actually got a great workout from it. Leslie Sansone’s walking video’s come in 3 fitness levels. Her website lists these levels as follows:

Beginners: For the ones, who are just getting started, hasn’t exercised in the past six months and are seriously overweight.

Intermediate: Physically quite active. Takes part in sports, fitness, dance or some sort of physical exercise several times a week.

Advanced: Physically very active. One who has been taking part in sports and other fitness four or more times per week in the past 6 months.

The video that I did with my wife is the Walk At Home 3 Mile Slim & Sleek Walk with Pilates, which is an intermediate level video. I thought it would amount to my marching in place for 40-minutes, but it turned out to be more dynamic then that. Check out a sample clip:

One of the things that really got me to like her is that she kept offering little tips here and there… and most of them are the same things I say to my clients, including my favorite, “Pull and hold that bellybutton toward the spine.”

You can choose to do one, two, or three miles. The DVD also shows a timer counting down so you know how much longer you have. At the end Leslie Sansone takes you through a pilates routine that will strengthen you core. This was a good routine and more than sufficient enough for me to be impressed (My wife has yet been able to complete the routine fully).
